Welcome to Jaime Escalante Middle School "JEMS" Library!

 

Karina Quilantan-Garza, or Mrs. Q. as her students like to call her, is the library media specialist at Jaime Escalante Middle School. Since 2015, the library has expanded its programming beyond its physical walls to provide the best and innovative opportunities to students and staff. The library has received regional, state, and national recognition for its virtual presence and library programming. Mrs. Quilantan-Garza has earned an array of certifications in Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Apple, and AI platforms. In 2021 she was named TCEA Librarian of the Year Finalist. In 2022 she was recognized as the Texas Library Association's Librarian of the Year and in 2023 she was named a School Library Journal Librarian of the Year Finalist and a Library Journal Mover & Shaker. The library has also won numerous grants for literacy, makerspaces, and esports initiatives. LIBRARY HOURS:

Our library hours are open from 7:35am - 3:50pm Monday - Friday. Lunch hours vary daily due to class reservations.

TAKE OUR READING CHALLENGE:

Pick up a JEMS Library Loyalty Card from the circulation desk. The next time  you finish reading a book, fill out a review sheet and your card will get stamped. Once your card is filled, you will spin a wheel for a prize!
